Oakville has a multi-year road widening, a downtown square project and new assisted housing.
Town of Oakville · Towne Square revitalization ↗Speers Road is under multi-year reconstruction between Fourth Line and Dorval Drive, and the first phase of Towne Square renewal is underway. Halton has also announced construction of family-sized assisted housing on Margaret Drive.

Speers Road is being widened between Fourth Line and Dorval Drive.
The project reconstructs the corridor to five lanes and adds active-transportation improvements, sidewalks, lighting and servicing improvements. The published schedule runs from spring 2026 to anticipated completion in 2028.
Public Projects & Community UpdatesUnder construction
The first phase of Towne Square revitalization is underway.
The Town lists phase one of the $7.5-million revitalization as underway from September to November 2026. A holiday-season pause is planned before work resumes in early 2027, with completion targeted for September 2027. Phased construction is designed to maintain access to downtown businesses and events. George Street's southbound lane between Robinson and William streets is scheduled to close October 8 to December 31; northbound access will remain open.
Housing, Commercial & RedevelopmentScheduled
Margaret Drive housing has an announced August construction start.
Halton's 363 Margaret Drive project contains 13 three-, four- and five-bedroom units, including two accessible homes, plus about 1,150 square feet of community-program space. The Region announced an August 2026 construction start.
